RE: Public Correspondence
The school board is working on a way to address community input, to be as transparent as possible while at the same time recognizing that many people have ideas, questions and critiques. We are looking at ways to have healthy discussions, and be open for all to hear any items that are brought to the attention to the board; this cannot be accomplished via emails. We would like the whole board and the community to be able to access any information that members receive, as well as have communications be part of the public record, as part of the minutes. While we value the information we receive and want to be accessible, we are asking that it be done at the meetings. We understand that it may not always be feasible for someone to attend a meeting, in that case, should you have something you would like to share, please put it in writing, marked school board, and drop it off to the school office or mail it to the school.
The CES mailing address is: 321 Lightening Ridge Rd, Plainfield VT 05667
In addition to this change in practice, we are also looking for additional ways this wonderfully involved community can give input. Some brief thoughts: a discussion board on the school web site, an advisory group, which could discuss issues, and then present to the board. We are open to suggestions; this will be a discussion item on our April agenda (April 17th) so please come if you are interested in being part of the conversation.
Thank you-The Calais School Board
