Principal’s News

Dear Parents and Families,

The Community Connections Program is a pre-registration program. Drop-ins are allowed only when there is adequate supervision; there is a required ratio of child to staff.  If your child is not pre-registered and you have a need for child care, please contact Community Connections to see if there is an opening for that day:  Jen Wiater, Calais site coordinator (454-777, x348   This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.              Congratulations!   Our librarian, Eric Mongeon, has been hired for the position of technology integrationist.  Eric will be working full time at Calais next year as librarian and technology integrationist.   Calais Elementary School is committed to preparing our students with 21 century skills and will continue to provide students with increased access to technology and instruction.

4th & 5th Grade Petra Cliffs Field Trip- As we prepare for our 6th graders to rise up to 7th grade, we are also making plans to bring our current 4th and 5th grade students together for a day to begin the important work of building positive relationships for a classroom community of learners.  We will be taking 4th and 5th graders to Petra Cliffs  located in Burlington for team building on the ropes course and rock climbing. Please make sure that your child’s permission slips are returned to his/her teacher.  Students will need to bring a lunch and wear appropriate clothing and shoes for climbing.

We had a wonderful turnout for our annual Celebration of Learning on Thursday, May 17th.    Calais art teacher, Heidemarie Holmes-Heiss, spearheaded the celebration this year.  The school was transformed into an art museum filled with displays of young artists’ representations of skills and talents.

Sincerely, Grace
