Calais Elementary School

Welcome to the 4^th grade!

We hope you had an enjoyable and relaxing summer. We are looking forward to working with you and your child to make this school year a fantastic experience.  

We begin our year by diving into a Vermont history unit. This unit will be embedded in our literacy program. During literacy students will not only be reading stories about Vermont, but also examining how to write a structured response by using the “Painted Essay”, building their vocabulary and gaining fluency through reading. Again, students will be using the Investigations Mathematics Program. At the beginning of 4^th grade, students work on understanding and developing strategies for solving multiplication problems.
